Jess Thomas

Jess ThomasJess has been teaching at CALD since 2023, on the International Foundation Program. She is a Tutor within the Maths team, working to prepare students for a wide range of courses where mathematics and statistics skills are required.
She began her teaching career as a secondary school teacher in Bournemouth, training with Teach First in 2014. She completed her Masters in Education during her time in Bournemouth, allowing her the opportunity to consider some of the impacts of the reforms to assessment in schools happening at this time through an academic lense. Her dissertation focused on the use of formative assessment in the classroom and the impacts on pupil motivation. Most recently, she spent four years working at an International School in the French Alps, where she taught Maths to International Baccalaureate students as well as holding pastoral responsibility for 16–19-year-olds at the school.
